The Coriolis illusion
The Coriolis illusion occurs when the head is tilted during a long coordinated turn.
The fluid in the inner ear canal has had time to get up to a speed and a turning forces, so a sudden tilt of the head gives you a sense of yaw and pitch at the same time!
It is leading the pilot to make an inadequate, and unnecessary correction, that makes the situation worse.
Coriolisova iluze nastává při naklonění hlavy v dlouhotrvající koordinované zatáčce.
Kapalina ve vnitřním uchu tak má čas přizpůsobit se rychlosti a silám působícím během zatáčení, tak při náhlém naklonění hlavy způsobí iluzi o točení a klopení zároveň!
Toto vede pilota k neadekvátní a zbytečné korekci čím situaci ještě zhoršuje.
