Everyday English DETRESFA Distress Phase DETRESFA is the highest alert phase and is declared when there is confirmation of an aircraft’s distress, such as a crash or emergency situation. During DETRESFA, SAR teams mobilize all available resources for rescue and recovery efforts to assist the aircraft and its occupants.
